Le village, possession d\u2019Alphonse de Poitiers, y appara\u00eet en tant que castrum. Le XVIII\u00e8me si\u00e8cle est marqu\u00e9 par la pr\u00e9sence de la famille de Clarac, seigneurs de Mirepoix. La rivi\u00e8re Tarn a beaucoup influenc\u00e9 l\u2019implantation de la population et la structuration du village. Elle est, de plus, une voie d\u2019\u00e9changes privil\u00e9gi\u00e9e pour la production agricole locale. Vestiges de l\u2019\u00e9glise primitive, un chapiteau et deux t\u00eates sculpt\u00e9es ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9employ\u00e9s dans l\u2019\u00e9glise
